Make-Up Exams

Information for Instructors

Make-up exams for Fall 2025 are only available for courses selected as part of a pilot program. We will open services more widely in Spring 2026.

The University Testing Center is available for make-up exams for all students on Tuesdays from 4pm-8pm and Fridays from 8am-12pm. The exam registration process for make-up exams is different than from accommodated exams. In order for us to give an exam, the instructor must first register the exam through RegisterBlast. An exam must be registered with us at least 72 hours in advance of exam time. See the information below for instructions on how to register for an exam and video tutorials for RegisterBlast.

Final exam make-ups will be held from 8am-5pm on Monday, December 15 and Tuesday, December 16. No make-up exams will be held during finals week.

Activating RegisterBlast in Canvas

In order for your students to use the University Testing Center, you must first activate the RegisterBlast link on your course's Canvas page. Students will be unable to register for exams if you do not complete this step.

  • Click on the "Settings" link in your course's navigation list.
  • Click on the "Navigation" tab at the top of the screen.
  • Scroll down until you find the "University Testing Center" item. It is disabled by default and likely will be at the bottom of the page.
  • Click the three dots to the right of "University Testing Center" and select "Enable."
  • The "University Testing Center" link will now be active in your Canvas navigation. Don't forget to ensure that it is visible to students, as well.

Registering an Exam

  • Click the “University Testing Center” link in your course’s Canvas page.
  • Press the blue plus sign button on the top right of the page.
  • Fill out the exam information, including what day and time. You can enter a range of dates if you would like to allow your students flexibility in scheduling.
  • Upload a file: this is where you send us the exam so that we can print it for the students. It’s easiest if you do this during the initial registration, but you can also upload the file at a later date.
  • Answer the “additional information” questions so that we know how to prepare your exam.
  • Set student eligibility: type in the name or email of the students who are taking the exam with us.
  • Click submit!
  • To add files at a later date or edit your registration, click on the three dots to the left of the submission name and click “Edit.”
  • For future exam registrations, you can use the “Clone” function to duplicate your answers to our questions and speed up the registration process.

Late Exam Registrations

Exams are processed at the University Test Center on a first-come, first-served basis. We cannot guarantee a spot in the UTC for exams submitted after the 72-hour deadline.

Exam Return

When you register an exam, you will choose how you would like the exam to be returned to you. You can receive the exams via email or choose to pick them up in person at the UTC. Additionally, we can upload the exams to RegisterBlast. See the video below for information about how to access finished exams on RegisterBlast.
