KU Edwards Campus Test Center
The KUEC Test Center is located on the KU Edwards Campus, 12600 Quivira Rd, Overland Park, KS 66213, in the Regents Center building within the office suite 125.
The KUEC Test Center is available to all KU students needing quizzes or exams proctored: KU students attending classes at any KU campus may schedule an appointment at the KU Edwards Campus Test Center if the Overland Park location is more convenient.
Reasons to schedule a proctored exam may include accommodations granted by the Student Access Center (SAC) or due to permission from an instructor to make up or repeat a test.
Your First Appointment
First time users of the KUEC Test Center must connect with the Student Services Manager. Students will read and sign the Test Center Agreement, a listing of the rules and expectations. Then, the appointment to take the exam will be scheduled. If the student is receiving academic accommodations allowing them to take multiple exams in the Test Center in a single semester, all exams for the semester should be scheduled upfront.
Scheduling Additional Appointments
Students returning to schedule another exam after they have successfully completed their first exam in the KUEC Test Center may receive a link to book an appointment via Microsoft Bookings. To receive this link, email the Student Services Manager.
Information for Faculty and Staff
The KUEC Test Center is free for students and instructors to use. There is no limit on the number of exams a student can take in the Test Center per semester.
A student may be banned from using the Test Center at the discretion of the Test Center staff due to repeat academic misconduct or poor behavior.
Once a student has completed the initial Testing Center Appointment and identified you as the instructor, the Student Services Manager will email you with a link to a Qualtrics form titled Faculty Exam Form.
Once the exam has been completed, you will receive it via the method you indicated on the form.
KUEC Test Center Policies
All users of the KUEC Test Center must agree to the policies outlined below.
Before taking their first exam with the KUEC Test Center, each student must sign the Test Center Agreement Form, which contains the policies below. Any questions regarding these policies may be asked before signing. If new major policies are created, all returning students will be notified.
Students taking exams with accommodations must be registered through the Student Access Center (SAC). Students with documented disabilities who need information on how to register for accommodations should visit access.ku.edu or call 785-864-4064 for more information. KU Edwards Campus students can also call the Student Services Manager for assistance in registering for accommdations.
Students seeking accommodations must complete two steps to initiate the test request process:
- Request accommodations in each class via Access Online; and discuss the implementation of those accommodations with their instructor. If the instructor directs the student to set up the exam with the SAC, student will need to make a request with the Testing Center.
- *Requests for final exams must be scheduled 12 business days before the last day of classes, and all exam conflicts must be worked out by then. Please double check your syllabus and the university final exam schedule.
Late exam request policy:
- After three (3) late exam requests, students must meet with their Access Specialist to schedule all remaining exams for the semester.
- After five (5) late exam requests, all future late requests will be denied for the rest of the semester. Exams scheduled on time will be unaffected.
Every effort will be made to administer exams on the same day at the same time as the exam is given in class, but this may not always be feasible. It is the responsibility of the Student, not the SAC, to contact the instructor regarding issues or conflicts.
Requests for disability accommodated final exams must be scheduled 10 business days before the start of Finals Week, and all exam conflicts must be worked out by then. Please double check your syllabus and the university final exam schedule. Late exam requests for finals are unlikely to be accepted.
Every effort will be taken to schedule make-up exams for finals during finals week, but the last dates to to take a make up final exam will be the Monday and Tuesday following finals week. No make-up exams from earlier in the semester can be taken during this time.
All students must present a physical ID to gain access to the KUEC Test Center. Acceptable forms of ID include a KU student ID or a government-issued photo ID.
The KUEC Test Center is monitored by both overhead video cameras. Some situations may also call for a proctor to remain physically present in the room.
While at the University Testing Center, visitors consent to being recorded.
Only items that are specified by instructors as permissible for an exam are allowed in the KUEC Test Center. All other personal belongings and prohibited items must be stored in the lockers in the testing room and may not be accessed during the exam unless an accommodation is granted. Unauthorized access of personal items during an exam will result in academic misconduct charges.
Outside items prohibited while taking an exam include but are not limited to the following:
- Cell phones, cameras, smart watches, headphones, ear pods, and other electronic devices
- Backpacks, bags, purses, and wallets
- Coats, jackets, scarves, gloves, hats, and other outerwear
- Calculator covers, pencil cases, or pouches of any kind
- Food and drink
- Scratch paper (the UTC will provide scratch paper if permitted by the instructor)
Items needed for testing accommodations must be approved by staff during check-in. Please note that the lockers are not a secure storage for firearms.
Students are expected to remain in the Testing Center during exams. Taking breaks outside the testing room is not permitted on exams shorter than three hours. Exceptions for urgent restroom needs will be made, but break times will be recorded and reported to faculty.
Disruptive behavior is prohibited. When other testers are in the room, test-takers are expected to speak in whispers to proctors and refrain from behavior that might disrupt the other test-takers. Instances of disruptive behavior that disturb other test-takers may result in being asked to leave the testing center. Any instance of academic misconduct as defined by University Senate Rules and Regulations Article II, Section 6 will be reported to the instructor.
Only students who are taking an online exam on an approved personal device may bring laptops or tablets into the KUEC Test Center. While taking an exam on a personal device, students are expected to adhere to standards of academic integrity and will be monitored accordingly. Currently, the UTC does not provide electronic devices for online testing except in cases requiring assistive technology for a disability-related accommodation.
The UTC does not offer any remote or online proctoring services at this time. Students can take online exams at the UTC on their own personal devices.
All exams must be completed within the hours listed. All exams will be stopped at Test Center closing, regardless of whether the student still has time left granted by their instructor. It is the student's responsibility to ensure that their appointment is scheduled in a block that accommodates the time given by their instructor.
In general, expect to start earlier or later than the standard exam time. It is rare that the KUEC Test Center can proctor at the same time as your class.
The KUEC Test Center is closed when the university is closed, such as for holiday breaks and weekends. In the event of an unexpected campus closure, such as due to weather, every effort will be made to work with the student and instructor to reschedule the exam.
